About Us

Located in Northwest Michigan, our farm has been in the family for close to 100 years now.  The property consists of 500 enclosed acres with two smaller enclosures adjacent to the farm for the breeding and hunting of wild boar.  We have a variety of different habitat types within the property boundaries.  Rolling hills of mature hardwoods, dense cedar swamp, thick pine stands, large orchards, aspen clear-cuts and close to 65 acres of food plots make for a very challenging, yet enjoyable hunting environment.

In the early 1990’s, I began to tire of seeing only 1 ½ year old bucks during the Michigan hunting season.  Even with our large acreage, we were unable to keep our bucks from being taken at a young age by the surrounding hunters.  In 1995 we enclosed the property to allow our bucks to mature into the kind of bucks we had always dreamed of.

Today the farm has become an environment where hunters can come to enjoy some of the finest hunting in the country.  When we say hunting, we really mean a true hunt.  All of our deer have either been born on the farm, or were released at a young age to mature within the property.  Our bucks have been eluding us for the past nine years, and have become surprisingly good at it.  Most of our clients have been surprised at the difficulty in hunting for our mature bucks.  Just when you think you have the deer patterns figured out, you realize that they have you patterned.  Each season we schedule only a limited number of hunters to enjoy this unique hunting environment.  This limited number, ensures that each guest has his or her best opportunity to harvest that buck of a lifetime.

In our beginning, I made the decision to only supplementally feed our herd during the brutal winter months.  Starting in 2001, we made the decision to supplementally feed on a year round basis.  It’s now clear that by not having a feed program in place year round, we were at times actually hurting the health of our biggest bucks.  We have taken the best feed in the industry and incorporated it into our feeding program.  I believe that our past bucks were awesome, but the future holds our best bucks yet!

In addition to our new feed program, we will plant nearly 60 acres each year to natural food plots.  Our staples have been corn, soybeans and rape.  We experiment each year with new high protein forages to determine what our bucks like most.  In addition to the food plots, we plant dozens of fruit trees each year to produce a continuing soft mast crop.  So far we have over 300 fruit trees throughout the farm, creating a highly desirable food source and some excellent hunting spots.

With our commitment to agriculture and native food sources, our deer move naturally from bedding to feeding areas throughout the year.  We believe this is the kind of fair chase hunting environment most hunters are looking for.  No deer shot over feeders or bait piles on the Rowe Farm.  Here at the farm, the trophy you take home is just part of the total hunting experience.

All of us here at the Rowe Farm are working for you.  We are a family run operation and believe in treating our guests like family.
